Over-protecting and over-helping will lead to crashing and burning.
Who doesn’t want to set their kid up to give the world their best shot?
Go ahead, get involved with your children’s activities and schools. Advocate for them when they’re young.
But don’t usher them around from goal to goal. Don’t shield them from failures and disappointments.
If we put our children in bubbles and try to protect them from every possible harm, we will stunt their spiritual, physical, and mental growth.
We will stifle growth opportunities that build character and perseverance.
Proverbs 22:6 exhorts,
Start children off in the way they should go, and even when they are old they will not turn from it
Good parenting instills kids with spiritual truth, moral sense, strong will and firm character. These are the real tools that a young adult needs to build a meaningful life.
